Portugal have however, hosted the UEFA Euros previously. That was in the 2004 edition of the tournament, Euro 2004, where their national side went all the way to the finals of the tournament on home soil but eventually lost to Greece. Meanwhile, Portugal’s co-hosts Spain hosted the 1982 edition of the FIFA World Cup, so it’s only the second time in Spain’s history that they’re hosting the tournament as well.

However, whether Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to play and captain Portugal in the 2030 edition of the tournament is a matter of debate. Ronaldo is currently 38, so by 2030 he would be 45, so, perhaps, it’s very unlikely that he will participate in the tournament. But then again, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo, so anything is possible!
