Wrexham AFC, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds, recently completed two years under the new ownership. Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club on February 9, 2021, by investing $2.5 million. 98.6% of Wrexham Supporters Trust supported their bid, and they successfully bought the historic club. Since then, the Deadpool superstar and McElhenney have made serious efforts to promote the club in North America.

Out of their love for Reynolds and Wrexham, fans formed a supporters group in Canada named the Wrexham Canada family last year. They have so far visited to see two games of the club and were on their third visit on February 11 for a game against Wealdstone.

Ryan Reynolds inspired Canadian fans visited Wrexham 

February 11 saw the Wrexham community welcome a fans group from Canada. Thirty fans, led by the founder Sandy Domingos-Shipley of Wrexham Canada were at the Racecourse Stadium for a game against Wealdstone. They saw the club winning 3-1 and going top of the table on goal difference. 

Recently, the Canadian fans, on their return to Canada, thanked the Wrexham community for the warm welcome. They also enjoyed the atmosphere of the stadium where over 10,000 fans were present for Saturday’s game. The pub named, The Turf in the vicinity of the Racecourse Stadium made special arrangements for the traveling Canadian supporters. 

Wrexham Canada posted“It is safe to say, it was a crazy day in Wrexham yesterday. We loved seeing familiar faces from our previous trips but also meeting so many new people as well! Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome. All the best for the next few weeks, and fingers crossed we can come back,” on their return to Canada.

Wrexham took on Woking in the National League game on February 14 and were held to a 2-2 draw. They were unable to gain all three points to go three points clear of second-placed Notts County. Wrexham is eyeing an automatic promotion spot by winning the league and is in a prominent position to achieve it.

February 11 not only saw Wrexham Canada members in attendance. Spirited star Will Ferrell was also in attendance for the game against Wealdstone

He also plans to be in attendance QPR, and Fulham games. Ferrell was seen enjoying his beer in the pub named The Turf with the fans before the game. The Hollywood star is involved in his own football venture as he owns minority stakes in MLS club LAFC.
