After a long vacation, soccer teams are returning for crucial business. Likewise, Wrexham AFC also returned to their training ground as they are preparing for the upcoming season. While the Welsh side is desperate enough to kick off the fourth division campaign, they are in contention to play a few friendly games. However, a significant decision by the club may upset some fans.

A lot is expected from Ryan Reynolds’ side this season. Hence, in order to boost their morale, the Red Dragons are playing emphatic friendly matches. Fans are definitely in for a treat. However, they may not be able to watch Reynolds’ side in action for one match. In fact, their manager, Phil Parkinson, has a reason for the same.

Wrexham boss addresses the reason to play without fans

Tomorrow, Wrexham will have a practice match against Cymru Premier League side, Bala Town at Colliers Park. Surprisingly, that will be played behind closed doors and the manager has an explanation for it. “We will decide on how we are going to run the game minutes-wise,” he said, as stated by the Leader.

“Logistically it suits us being behind closed doors because we are travelling down to London after the game for the flight. It just keeps everything simple by having a game at our training base and suits us in this particular situation.” The 55-year-old insisted everyone will be given a chance to play in the match.

Parkinson reveals the team still has a good week as they played another 11v11 in-house game. When asked that there hasn’t been a single friendly at Racecourse Ground, he revealed the pitch wasn’t ready. While emphasizing the club’s training pitch, he also praised the player’s dedication in all of the training sessions.

“The lads have attacked every session, everything that has been put in front of them they have worked really hard,” he said. Following their closed-door fixture against Bala, Wrexham is due to fly to the United States. The Red Dragons will be competing for some enthralling fixtures. Likewise, Parkinson briefly discussed his plans on the same and is looking forward to it.

Phil Parkinson is looking forward to the US Tour

Wrexham fans are eagerly waiting to see their beloved club in action. In fact, not only the fans but the players and the manager’s family are also looking forward to it. Parkinson said, “I know a few people from Wrexham are coming over to America,” he added.“My family is coming over, I know Steve Parkin’s are and a few of the players’ families are also coming over.” The gaffer says it will be great for all of the families, who will be able to share a mesmerizing experience.

He says everyone associated with the club is “looking forward to it.” Notably, Wrexham will kick off their opening match against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea on Wednesday. The match will be played at the Kenan Memorial Stadium, North Carolina. The fixture will be followed by matches against LA Galaxy II, Manchester United, and the Philadelphia Union. Indeed, it’s going to be an interesting tour, as soccer fans are definitely in for a treat.
