Things have not been working out well for Brazilian defender Dani Alves following his indictment by the Spanish court in an alleged sexual assault case. The ex-Barcelona star has been behind bars for more than half a year now and his relationship with his wife Joana Sanz seems to be deteriorating with every passing day.

Joana Sanz filed for divorce following Alves’ arrest in the case and has been trying to get away with her old life. However, following the decision, some people across the internet sent Sanz death threats, which put her in a depressed state. However, Sanz’s fans have stood behind her, with Sanz thanking them via her social media stories.

Joana Sanz has been active across her social media platforms for the past few months. With Dani Alves’s estranged wife posting photos of her day-to-day life, apart from some notes from her diary. Recently, Sanz posted a couple of stories on her Instagram profile, as she used some of the screenshots from fan messages. 

Sanz thanked her fans for the constant love and support in recent months and hopes to come out of the situation stronger. Apart from the posts, Sanz has also taken shots at her imprisoned husband with some of her posts, claiming that it is hard to live with your demons.

No relief for Dani Alves from Barcelona court

Meanwhile, Dani Alves, who has been imprisoned over the past six months, is yet to see any signs of relief. Following his indictment, Alves has been denied bail with the court considering the player to be a flight risk.

Alves, in hopes of finding his bail, has agreed to surrender his passport and wear a tracking collar for the duration of the trial but has yet to hear back. A trial is likely to take place this year or in early 2024, with Alves facing sexual assault charges from a case dating back to December.

Dani Alves has denied all accusations, with the player disappointed with how the narrative has been turned around. It will be interesting to see the decision the Spanish court decides to take. If found guilty, Alves could face imprisonment from 4 to 15 years.
