The club has finally closed its National League chapter and will now embark on its journey. However, before their return to the EFL, they have a lot of work to do. The competition in League Two is expected to be higher than in the fifth division. Hence, this is an opportunity for the owners to bolster their squad with some new signings. In fact, it seems Reynolds already has a player in mind to usher in a new era.
Ryan Reynolds fighting to sign EFL’s hottest prospect
According to several reports, the Deadpool star is keen to sign Cheltenham Town striker Alfie May. The player recently hit the 20-goal mark in League One for the second consecutive season. His performance has left a good impression on Reynolds, who is eager to bring him to the Racecourse Ground. However, the actor may have to take out his Deadpool swords, as May is a subject of interest for a number of clubs.
Championship sides Huddersfield and Millwall are eyeing the 29-year-old’s services, while Birmingham also failed with a deadline-day approach in January. Furthermore, third-division sides Peterborough and Derby, and League Two side Gillingham, are also keeping tabs on the striker.
May has a year left on his contract. If the striker moves to Wrexham, he would need to drop down a division. However, he’ll be joining his former friend, Ben Tozer, who shared the locker room alongside him at Cheltenham. Should the Red Dragons formally declare their interest, they would need to come up with a lucrative and enticing offer. Moreover, Reynolds wouldn’t be looking for yet another saga, after he failed to convince Gareth Bale to join his ranks.
Gareth Bale rejects a chance to play at Wrexham
The rumors of Gareth Bale joining Wrexham sort of put the whole soccer world into a frenzy. Reynolds and McElhenney gave everything to convince the Welshman to join their ranks for one last dance. All three indulged in hilarious tweet sessions, where the actors tried to seduce the former Madrid man.

They also left the promises of golf as bait for the winger to make him come out of retirement. Unfortunately, the player swiftly rejected their offer, as he looks set to play the sport he loves: golf. The mind may be convinced, but Reynolds’ and McElhenney’s hearts are still shouting the name of the former Wales international.
