Days After Father’s Critical Brain Surgery, Gerard Pique’s Ex Shakira Shares a Heartwarming One-Liner for Mother

Shakira is one of the best Latin American artists to date. But even after reaching that enhanced public stature, the singer is still quite close to her family before and after the presence of Gerard Pique in her life. On multiple occasions, she has posted something about her parents and children on social media. She doesn’t shy away from publicly showering love on her family. A few hours ago, she posted a heartwarming message for her mother.

In recent times, things aren’t right in the Mebarak family. The singer’s father recently underwent critical head surgery. To mainly take care of her parents, the Waka–Waka singer has traveled back to her hometown in Colombia.

What message did Shakira post for her mother?

Just like her father, her mother’s health hasn’t been quite good either. Months ago, Nidia del Carmen Ripoli suffered from a blood clot in her leg. Shakira and her parents were in the hospital for a few routine tests. That’s when the doctors noticed this major issue. After several tests, they discovered that Nidia was suffering from thrombosis. After spending a few days in the hospital, she was fine to go home.

Since then, her mother’s health has seemingly been quite stable. Especially for her mother, the singer posted a heartwarming message for her. Along with posting a picture, she wrote, “Yes, at my age and still sit on my mom’s lap!”. Without a doubt, the Instagram post is just shy of a million likes. The comments section is quite a sweet place to be in too.

But this isn’t the first time that she posted something about her parents. About a week ago, she posted an emotional video of herself spending precious moments with her parents. Along with that, she also wrote an emotional one-liner for them.

What happened to Shakira’s dad?

William Mebarak suffered a terrible fall in 2022. Due to the fall, he sustained major head trauma. But Mr. Mebarak sadly has taken more time than expected to recover. Eventually, he started suffering from hydrocephalus. To quicken the recovery process, the Mebaraks went through with the surgery. Shakira got together some of the best doctors from different cities for the surgery.

Earlier this year, the surgery was going to take place in Barcelona itself. But the hospitals reportedly informed her that they didn’t have the means to do it. She then flew her father to Miami in an air ambulance. But the singer and her family ended up doing the surgery in Colombia. After a few days, the Colombian icon will go to Spain and pick up her kids from Gerard Pique. They will then head back to Miami for the rest of the summer break.
