Cristiano Ronaldo might just be the most influential footballer of all time. Besides the Portuguese superstar’s on-field accomplishments, the Real Madrid icon is also famous for his business ventures. Owing to his weaving profitable projects, Cristiano Ronaldo has established his place as one of the world’s highest-earning athletes estimated at $500 million.

Ronaldo shocked the world after announcing his partnership and whopping $10 million investment into mineral water, Ursu9. The Al Nassr forward has stepped into the beverage industry, valued to be a $842,900,000,000 water industry.

Despite Ursu9’s claims of “improve the quality of life for the population in general”, El Comidista charged the mineral water company for alleged benefits. Furthermore, it’s not the first time that Ronaldo’s water bottle company got attacked with fallacious claims. He was criticized by a Spanish nutritionist for the same as well.

Defined as ‘much more than water’, Ursu9 claims to have medicinal effects because of its special characteristics. It contains a high level of alkaline, antioxidant, and mineral; moreover, Ursu9 claims to contain high alkaline content, pH9, which can provide splendid benefits to the human body.

This characteristic was highlighted a lot by the media, the company’s manager, Cristiano Ronaldo, and nutritionist, Aitor Sánchez. Unfortunately, all these claims are not true and Ursu9 doesn’t provide any medicinal effects. El Comidista, a branch of the Spanish newspaper El País, which specializes in gastronomy, warned consumers about the nonexistent benefits of Ursu9.

El Comidista points out that there is no scientific study or evidence that proves the medicinal effects of alkaline water. The branch also revealed that the antioxidant level of the water is close to zero, which contradicts Ronaldo’s claims. They also reveal the wrong details of the promotional video provided by the company.

Interestingly, the location company presented as being in Spain is actually a waterfall in the municipality of Arganil, Portugal. If the video that promotes the water is not entirely accurate, the story behind the supposed tale of the water is not all true. El Comidista’s report on Ursu9’s fallacious claims of medicinal effects has raised a lot of concern.

The Portuguese soccer star explained that he joined the project because of his growing interest in everything related to health. Regardless, Ronaldo could face a lot of success and lose his $10 million investment in the dust.
