Days earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a spectacular header that was later denied by VAR. There have been frequent faults on the officiating side in many of the Saudi League games and Al Nassr has had enough. In the wake of the events, Al Nassr has now decided to shell out money to spend excessively on ‘foreign referees’ for all of their games. The Saudi club decided to bring better professional referees after experiencing many instances of missed opportunities due to bad officiating.
Al Nassr went on to win the match 4-0 but Ronaldo wasn’t happy with the ref’s decision. Cristiano Ronaldo was also heard shouting “Always against me” when his goal was denied. Foreign referees have officiated Saudi matches in earlier instances as well.

During the match between Al Nassr and Al Shabab, Ronaldo’s second goal was denied based on a heavy push made on an Al Shabab defender. It later turned out to be a wrong decision. Furthermore, in the Asian Champions League match between Al Nassr and Shabab Al Ahli, CR7 scored a stunning bicycle kick, but the Al Ahli defender stopped the shot with his hand. It left Ronaldo frustrated and angry as no foul was given.
There has been constant negligence and bad refereeing in practice since the arrival of the Portuguese. This will be the first time that foreign officials will be monitoring all the matches for a team.

In the Al Shabab game, Ronaldo was on the verge of completing his second straight hattrick which would also have been his 850th career goal. However this time, CR7 handled the frustration well and showed his leadership qualities as he gave Abdulrahman Ghareeb his penalty in an attempt to end his goalless drought.
Many prominent foreign officials have previously monitored the games. Among these, a few notable names are English referee, Michael Oliver and Spanish referee, Mateu Lahoz.
