There were reports recently about a monstrous offer of $240 million from Saudi Arabia for Messi. Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal is ready to test the resolve of the Argentine with a massive offer. Also, the visit of Jorge Messi, father of the PSG superstar, to Saudi Arabia raised the eyebrows of many.

Messi is a brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia Tourism, and the country is trying to bring him into the soccer league. Saudi Arabia wants to raise its image and bolster their bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup by bringing Messi. However, they might face stiff competition from MLS as all the clubs are discussing a unique formula to bring the former Barcelona talisman to the league. 

MLS clubs discussing formula to sign Lionel Messi

Spanish publication ‘Sport’ recently reported that discussions are going on between the 29 MLS clubs. They are striving for the formula to bring Messi to the league. The reports state all the MLS clubs could pay the salary to the Argentine, and he will decide on the club for which Messi wants to play. 

The clubs feel the arrival of Messi will boost the MLS tremendously. Messi will help to increase the revenues, especially from TV rights, which will rise exponentially. His transfer for free to any MLS club will also boost the game ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the country. Overall, paying to play against Messi will also be beneficial for the MLS clubs, and discussions are on.

David Beckham co-owned Inter Miami is keen on signing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. The reports link the World Cup winner with the Miami move since the Qatar World Cup. Beckham is pushing for the move, and Inter Miami is trying to generate the formula to sign the superstar. Now it is up to Lionel Messi to decide what he does next.

MLS commissioner Don Garber, recently in an interview with The Athletichinted to go out of the box to sign Lionel Messi. The league has already done this before signing David Beckham. They offered him a contract with a clause to buy the MLS expansion club for a mere $25 million.

They are thinking on the same grounds to sign Messi. Garber heaped praise on the Argentine, claiming the move will bolster the league in the future. He also suggested that MLS will be flexible if Messi decides to play for Inter Miami. Now, the recent reports of all clubs coming together to pay the salary of the Argentine show how MLS is desperately trying to land the superstar.
