Anybody, despite their age and economical background, can play the sport. The initial phases do not even require professional gear. Recently, an old man in Australia broke a soccer world record. Fans from all over the world appreciated the old man’s efforts and dedication to the game.

A 79-year-old man recently became the oldest man ever to play a competitive soccer game.
David Mudge is the oldest soccer player in the world!
David Mudge from Australia is the proud new holder of this award. Mudge becomes the oldest-ever competitive soccer player across the globe. The 79-year-old plays for the Kissing Point Football Club in Australia. Mudge and his team were playing against North Turramurra in a Northern Suburbs Football Association match.

The 79-year-old veteran was still the happiest person on the pitch even after his team lost 6-0. Fans from all over the world applauded Mudge’s enthusiasm, even at that age. Mudge plays soccer in the over-45 league every week, just like how soccer professionals do. However, Mudge’s son recently realized that the previous world record holder for the same achievement was just 73 years old.

The 79-year-old then immediately contacted Guinness World Records and enquired about the same. Mudge is still in pretty good shape and could run through the entire 90 minutes of the match. After the final whistle, every player on the pitch lined up to celebrate Mudge’s unique achievement.
Apart from Mudge, soccer fans will be very familiar with the Kazuyoshi Miura. Miura currently holds the record of being the oldest player to play a soccer game in the top flight.
Miura is not that far behind!

Around two years ago, Miura broke the record and became the oldest player ever to play a game in the top flight. Miura was 53 and a half years old when he broke the record. The Japanese pro is still going very strong in the physical aspect of his game. The Japanese striker is currently playing for the Suzuka Point Getters in the J1 league.

At the age of 55, almost every Japanese soccer fan wants Miura to try his hand at European soccer. In the past, Miura has revealed that he is open to playing the sport till he is 60 years old. It remains to be seen if the Japanese soccer professional who rarely gets injured can push himself to play till he’s 60.
