A successful career for David Alaba at Real Madrid is lurking at the edge. After the club’s last game against Villareal, the player’s stint for this season is over after sustaining an ACL injury. As the player will be out for months, his next game with Los Blancos cannot be guaranteed. The reason is that Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad is getting ready for talks with the player.
The Austrian defender moved to Real Madrid in 2021 for a five-year deal for approximately 12 million dollars per year. However, his stay could be cut short as talks regarding his potential deal with the Saudi club have emerged.

Real Madrid, just like some other clubs in Europe, are suffering from injuries. David Alaba was the third player to catch the devastating anterior cruciate ligament injuries from the team after Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois. But the Austrian’s return to the club is not assured, as Carlo Ancelotti’s club has already put a 65.5 million-dollar price tag on the player, according to reports. And considering what he has done, the player may move like a hotcake in the Saudi market.

Alaba moved to Madrid after a highly successful term at Bayern Munich. The star won 10 Bundesliga titles and two UEFA Champions Leagues with the Bavarians. Additionally, he won two FIFA Club World Cups and two trebles. The player continued a similar form, with the Spanish capital winning all three major tournaments, La Liga, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid, on the other end, could change their January transfer window plan. With two important defenders out, Ancelotti may have to take a U-turn and scout for a defender for the next six months. The team is at the top of the La Liga table but will not look to take any more risks and add backups to the squad amid the injury scares.

Al Ittihad’s disappointing season needs a boost
Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad has a pretty decent backline but is not able to restrict goals like last season. Considering the versatility of Alaba, it looks like the Jeddah-based team will be interested in the center-back. Al Ittihad have already conceded 18 goals in 16 games this season, which is five more than their last campaign.

The club has also been knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup despite having players like Karim Benzema, Jota, and Abderazak Hamdallah. Their chance of retaining the league also looks bleak, as they are 19 points behind the leaders, Al Hilal. However, the addition of Alaba will definitely act as a strength for the defending champions, but it looks like they need more firepower at the back. Will Alaba move to Saudi Arabia or not? Only time will reveal.
