Cristiano Ronaldo has moved away from Europe, but his achievements have sealed his legacy in soccer. The Portuguese captain has been in exceptional form in Saudi Arabia. However, despite his consistent performances, Cristiano has been subject to regular scrutiny from the fans. And reiterating the difficulty of producing such performances at 39, former teammate Casemiro lauded Ronaldo. But is the Al Nassr captain underappreciated?

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been sensational this season. The player is currently the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League, which has amazed Casemiro, who feels that CR7 went unnoticed. Speaking in a recent interview, Casemiro said, “We had fun while we did not realize what Cristiano did for football. I am not saying in Madrid, and I am not saying in United. In football, he scores 50 goals at the age of 39. What would you say about such a player?!!” The 32-year-old feels that Ronaldo is worth much more praise than he deserves.

The Brazilian had the privilege of playing alongside the maestro at both Real Madrid and Manchester United for a short time. And Ronaldo’s feat last year of scoring 50 goals at a later stage of his career is a testament to his commitment. Casemiro had already expressed his gratitude for the Al Nassr captain when he said, “He gave me loads of titles and goals. So, it’s a pleasure to talk about Cris. In my generation, he was top three in the world. Without a doubt, he’s one of football’s all-time best.”Together, they won four Champions League and two La Liga titles.

Reports suggested that Cristiano was influencing Casemiro to join the Knights of Najd, which Casemiro later rejected. However, the Manchester United star hinted that the baton has been passed on to the next generation in Europe.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s spectacular tenure lasted almost two decades in European club soccer. However, the player has moved on to a different challenge. Casemiro felt that PSG star Kylian Mbappé is similar to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. He stated that Mbappé reminds him of Cristiano because the French superstar possesses a similar ability to score goals. Casemiro warned teams to watch out for Mbappe, as he looks hungry to score all the time.

Nevertheless, the shoes are quite big for any player to fill. Ronaldo’s legacy of scoring more than 880 goals and winning five Champions League trophies will be a Herculean task to reach for Kylian Mbappé. But as the Frenchman has already proven his capability in Paris, it remains to be seen if France’s captain can match the expectations.
