The storm around Juventus and Serie A isn’t settling down. It all started with investigations against Juventus by local authorities a few months back for irregularities in accounts and transfers. Board has to resign amidst the investigation. UEFA opened a separate investigation regarding FFP. Cristiano Ronaldo might sue them for the money owed to him.

Recently, Serie A giants were given a 15-point deduction for wrongdoings, and Juventus has appealed against it. To add to that, now reports from Italy say 500,000 Juventus fans have canceled their TV subscriptions. It not only comes as a setback to the club but to Serie A as a whole, as Juventus is the most followed club in Italy.

A storm to hit struggling Serie A and Juventus?

Alarms have been raised over 500,000 Juventus season ticket holders’ cancelations. It is in response to the 15 points deduction for Juventus. Juve has the most fans in Serie A (8.1 million), and it makes up one-third of total Serie A fans. Out of the ten most-seen games, Juventus accounts for seven games, and it will be a massive setback for the Serie A if the fans keep canceling their TV subscriptions. 

The Italian league will suffer if the systematic protest started by the Juventus supporters gathers more momentum. They are in the process of finding a sponsor for TV rights for the league, and the current scenario will affect the deal. They have already canceled the CVC deal because Juventus and Lazio opposed it in 2021.

The scandal is affecting not only the club but now there are signs of the whole league suffering from it. It will be interesting to see how Serie A and Juventus react to the protests from the Juventus supporters. Also, Juventus will be eagerly waiting for the result of their appeal against 15 points deduction. 

Juventus owes $21 million to Cristiano Ronaldo

Last month, Corriere della Sera published a document that shows Juventus still owes money to Ronaldo. They also reported that Ronaldo will demand payment from the club for not fulfilling the agreement.

One of the accusations against Juventus is they have made hidden payments to their players amongst other financial wrongdoings. The publication further reported that some players got the money through private agreements, but Ronaldo didn’t. The Portuguese can sue his former club for the money.
