A new report sheds light on this, and there is some distance between the popularity numbers of both clubs.

Ronaldo, who is 38, joined Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr in January 2023 after his fallout with his former club Manchester United. Meanwhile, Messi, who is 36, also left his old club PSG on sour terms for pastures anew to sign for Inter Miami in the MLS. According to this tweet on X, by Deportes&Finazas, both Al Nassr and Inter Miami make the list of the top 5 most popular clubs in the world. The list has been populated according to Instagram interaction figures for August 2023. As per the report, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr are 3rd in global popularity with 157 million interactions on Instagram while Messi’s Inter Miami are 5th with 130 million interactions.

But the pair’s old clubs are also on the list. Messi’s former club Barcelona are 4th with 148 million interactions, while Ronaldo’s ex-employers Real Madrid top the list with 190 million interactions. On the pitch, both Ronaldo and Messi have started the new season with their respective clubs in impressive fashion.
