The president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Fernando Gomez, recently soothed the fears of a great number of supporters by disclosing a noteworthy update regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement plans. And as per Gomez’s words, he is still there for the long haul. In an interview, he said, “The only thing I have for sure at the moment is that Cristiano will not leave Portugal until after I leave office. In fact, if he continues with the strength and ambition he has shown, I imagine he will continue for many more years.”

Notably, Gomez will be in office until June 30, 2024. On the other hand, the UEFA competition will run from June 14, 2024, to July 14, 2024. This means Gomez’s contract will expire during the European tournament. Either way, this makes it clear that Ronaldo will stay with Os Navegadores at least until the Euros. After that, the Al Nassr star might himself answer his future. Perhaps the outcome of Roberto Martinez’s side in Euro 2024 will also play a role in his final decision. While his country’s career is a bit clear, might as well delve into Ronaldo’s own words to understand his plans for the domestic front.
