The fans are starting to look at Mbappe and Erling Haaland’s rivalry as the next big thing. But how does Kylian Mbappe fare compared to his idol Ronaldo at the age of 24? Comparing the trophies won by Cristiano Ronaldo with Kylian Mbappe at 24

Cristiano Ronaldo was first promoted to the first team at 16 at Sporting CP. He became the first player to play for U-16, U-17, U-18, the B team, and the first team in a single season at Sporting. However, Ronaldo played only a season on the first team with Sporting and made a move to Manchester United. It was the game-changer for the Portuguese as he went on to get a legendary status in soccer. 

Ronaldo had only one trophy with the Portuguese side, a Portuguese Super Cup, in 2002. The player, before turning 24, won the Premier League twice in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. He won his third consecutive Premier League after turning 24 in the 2008-09 season. Ronaldo won the FA Cup once in his first season at United.

Football League Cup once (2005-06), and FA Community Shield twice (2007, 2008) were other domestic trophies to his name at 24. (He won Football League Cup in 2008-09 after his 24th birthday). He won his first UEFA Champions League at United in the 2007-08 season with the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008. In his youth career, he has one Toulon Tournament trophy with Portugal U-20 in 2003. Ronaldo had a total of 10 trophies to his name before his 24th birthday.

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe won a total of 17 trophies before attaining 24 years of age. The French forward came from the ranks of AS Monaco, where he won his first league title. PSG was quick to take the player on their side by paying a record fee of approx $190 million

Mbappe is a five-time Ligue 1 champion (four with PSG: 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2021-22, and once with AS Monaco: 2016-17). He won three French Cups (2017-18, 2019-20, 2020-21), two French League Cups (2017-18, 2019-20), and three French Super Cups (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21). Mbappe won the FIFA World Cup at 19 in 2018, and UEFA Nations League in 2021. He also has two youth career trophies to his name.

Mbappe outscores his idol in the goal-scoring at 24

Mbappe scored 253 goals in 363 appearances in all competitions for club and country at 24. He also had 132 assists and 14 hat tricks. His goal-scoring exploits have earned him a Golden Boot award at FIFA World Cup 2022 and were named the highest-scoring player in Ligue 1 in four seasons (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22).

However, Ronaldo had 132 goals to his name at 24 in almost the same appearances (362) as that Mbappe. Ronaldo only had one hat trick and 66 assists to his name. Although, he did win European Golden Shoe in the 2007-08 season, scoring 42 goals and becoming the first winger to win it. In the same season, Ronaldo won the Premier League Golden Boot with 31 goals.

Ronaldo was just starting to score freely from the 2007-08 season, and this made Spanish giants Real Madrid break the transfer record in 2009 and the rest is history. Ronaldo boasts a record for most career goals and most international goals to date.
