Is Al Nassr looking at a makeover? If not at the squad level, the club seems to be eyeing a shift in the management. It has been a long time since the team in yellow tasted success in major tournaments. Cristiano Ronaldo has just won one trophy yet. However, amid the ongoing race for the Saudi league title, it seems like Al Nassr has received a major blow with reports suggesting that the club’s President has quit.
Things at the management level have been a bit uncertain at Al Nassr for the past few months. And now the latest news suggests that its President, Musalli Al Muammar has resigned and left the post. Al Muammar joined Al Nassr in 2021 with the backing of Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz. He also served as the President of the Roshn Saudi League from 2018 to 2020.

Meanwhile, Musalli Al Muammar can be credited for the new soccer revolution in Saudi. Known to be one of the main people involved in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Al Nassr, this led the club to acquire other superstars like Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, etc. But looks like Al Nassr wants to move on to recruiting new positions in the management as other reports suggest.
Additionally, a new president is expected to arrive after the current season until which an interim role will be offered to someone. The message comes in during a tough phase for the club as it battles with Al Hilal for the title. According to earlier reports, Al Muammar who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Nassr, submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Sports and was awaiting acceptance. Months ago, the club received a setback after its Sporting Director Goran Vucevic moved away amid their hard battle for the league title this year.

Looks like Al Nassr is heading for a similar type of season as the last one. Cristiano Ronaldo and the club finished 2nd last season, which seems to be a huge possibility even this time. Al Nassr then lost their #1 rank to Al Ittihad, but this time the margin looks way too far even though Ronaldo has scored 23 goals already. Al Hilal, despite having fewer top-profile players, has still not lost a game. Moreover, it leads the league with 12 more points than Al Nassr.
On the other hand, Al Nassr has also been affected by injuries this season with players like Anderson Talisca out currently. The club also missed their main goalkeeper, David Ospina for more than half a season. Overall, despite a few setbacks, the club is still fighting to win whatever it can with the King’s Cup and the Saudi Super Cup at stake.
