Earlier this year, Al Nassr was bound to catch a flight to China to participate in two friendly matches. Unfortunately, these plans were abruptly halted due to an unexpected muscle injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo, forcing the team to cancel the tour. The cancellation sparked a significant backlash from Chinese fans, which even forced Ronaldo himself to issue an apology to the supporters. Nevertheless, it appears that CR7 is set to make amends, as he will be fulfilling the desires of his Asian supporters by returning to the 1.4 billion populated country.

Just to clarify, the return isn’t for a friendly match; rather, it’s for a much-anticipated Saudi Super Cup. As per the reports from @X99i3 on X, the 2024–25 edition of this competition is set to be held in China. Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is among the four teams alongside, Al Hilal, Al Ahli, and Al Taawoun to lock horns for the silverware. As per the current format regulations, the Saudi Pro League’s top two teams, along with the finalists of the King Cup, are eligible to compete in the Super Cup.

Coincidentally, all of the participating teams also made the top four finish in the Roshn League table this season, leading them to be a part of the upcoming installment. Speaking of the fixtures, Al Nassr will be facing Al Taawoun. On the other hand, Al Hilal will face off against Al Ahli. Either winner will face each other in the finals to lift the trophy. The whole tournament will take place between August 13 and 17.

Notably, in last year’s installment, Al Hilal was knocked out by Al Feiha with a narrow score in the semi-final, while Al Nassr also suffered a 3-1 loss against Al Ittihad. Eventually, it was Karim Benzema and his team who defeated Al Feiha 2-0 to win the final. However, this year, neither of the previous year’s finalists are present to defend their title. Nevertheless, excitement remains high for Chinese fans, especially with the anticipation of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo.
