There were a lot of reasons behind Al Nassr signing Cristiano Ronaldo. While they wanted to bolster their team, it also helped them to improve the stature of the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese is currently the identity of the league. But it seems it won’t be the case for long as his rivals are set to make a new face of the Middle Eastern domestic competition.

Already the exodus to the Gulf country continues in full swing, with top players moving to the foreign league. Now, CR7’s rivals are set to offer a Premier League star a blockbuster offer that mirrors David Beckham’s MLS deal.

Top clubs of the Saudi Pro League have signed some renowned faces of soccer. Interestingly, the exodus won’t be stopped easily as Ronaldo’s Al Nassr rivals, Al Ittihad are looking to buy Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. In fact, the Riyadh-based club is looking to lure the Egyptian with a Dаvid Beckhаm-like offer. This comes just weeks after they signed Karim Benzema.

Al Ittihad had reportedly offered $188 million for the 31-year-old. They are giving Salah a five-year contract with an annual salary of around $120 million. The contract has other perks alongside perks such as a private jet or unrestricted flight tickets for his family. Additionally, there’s an offer for him to take on the role of an ambassador for tourism and investments in Saudi Arabia, contributing further to his earnings. In total, this deal would surpass Ronaldo’s $250 million salary at Al-Nassr.

Furthermore, as per Newspaper 24HR, the winger will have a chance to get a share in the team’s ownership. This is a similar kind of proposition that enticed David Beckham to join MLS in 2007. When the English legend departed Real Madrid for LA Galaxy, a portion of the agreement allowed him the opportunity to establish his own MLS team at some point in the future.

Indeed, hearing the perks of the contract definitely suggests Al Ittihad is desperate for Salah. In fact, they want to make him the face of SPL!

Will Mohamed Salah become the new face of the Saudi Pro League?

Al Ittihad sees Salah as a more valuable asset to the country. The Egyptian striker’s immense influence and superstar status in the Middle Eastern Arab nations and the Gulf Peninsula sets him apart from any of the previous signings. Hence, the Riyadh side insists on having him as an ambassador as it would serve as a notable and strategic addition. It also aligns perfectly with Saudi Arabia’s ambition to establish itself as the predominant force in the region.

Moreover, with Benzema and Ronaldo being 35 and 38, both are anticipated to retire within the coming two years. On the contrary, Salah, aged 31, has the potential for a longer-lasting influence. Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that Al-Ittihad manager Nuno Espirito Santo isn’t fond of Benzema’s playing style. Furthermore, they are also set to dump the new signing, Diego Jota. Hence, bringing Salah has become a top priority for Al Ittihad. It remains to be seen how they manage to do it.
