It’s hard to believe that the legend of Cristiano Ronaldo originated from the small village of Madeira. His journey to becoming one of the most iconic players ever wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for some tough decisions. The hardest such decision for the soccer legend was leaving his family. The 5 time Ballon d’Or winner left for Sporting in 1997. Although he acknowledges this as a career-changing moment, CR7 does not 100% approve of his Cristiano Jr choosing such a path!

Speaking on the Whoop podcast, the Al Nassr star opened up about the hardest phase of his career. He revealed, “I left Madeira at the age of eleven for Lisbon. This was perhaps the most difficult part of my career.” And now, Cristiano Ronaldo is hesitant to let his son leave him and Georgina. The 39-year-old added, “I now see my son Cristiano Jr. And I do not know if I will allow him to leave home, even within the next two years, because it will be difficult.”

Currently, Cristiano Jr is 13 years old and plying his trade for the Al Nassr youth team. Previously, he plundered 58 goals in just 28 matches for the Juventus U-9 team, highlighting his raw talent and potential. But the youngster has started fulfilling his immense potential. Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo’s son won his first trophy with the Al Nassr U-13 team. While CR7 also aimed to be the best, Cristiano Jr’s goals are slightly offbeat.

Cristiano Jr reveals his dream involving Cristiano Ronaldo

At this point in time, Cristiano Jr’s main goal is to play a professional match with his father before he retires. Cristiano Ronaldo has acknowledged his son’s ambitions many a time and said, “My son tells me: Dad, hold on a few more years, I want to play with you!.” CR7 made his professional debut at the age of 17. Even if Cristiano Jr has a similar career trajectory, it will be hard for his father to maintain his fitness. Regardless of whether Cristiano Jr fulfills his dream, CR7 is confident of his son’s future.

In the 2022 Netflix documentary based on his life partner Georgina Rodriguez, ‘I am Georgina’, the Al Nassr star spoke about his son’s mentality and approach to soccer. “Cristiano Jr has the conditions, he has the potential. He has everything to dedicate himself to football and become a professional. I think so,” said Cristiano Ronaldo. In the Al Nassr U-13 team, Cristiano Jr has already been spotted with the captain’s armband. If he keeps up his commitment, he will go professional sooner rather than later.
