Meanwhile, the game turned out sour for Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr, and their fans. Despite dominating the game, Ettifaq scored a goal in the 43rd minute. It was a setback for Al Nassr. The club hit back with a Gustavo goal in the 56th minute. After getting on level, Al Nassr pushed for a win. However, with over five minutes to go, they received another setback.

Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an injury and had to be substituted in the 84th minute of the game. Al Nassr had to play the remaining minutes without their talisman. But the club failed to score the winner and stay in the title race despite their dominance. Ronaldo suffered an adductor muscle injury in the crucial moments of the game.

Al Ittihad’s win followed the Al Nassr draw. As a result, Ittihad sealed the Saudi Pro League title with a game to spare. It was a heartbreak for Ronaldo, Al Nassr, and their fans as the club will go trophyless this season.

Ronaldo became the highest-paid athlete after joining Al Nassr. The club and its fans hoped the five-time Ballon d’Or will inspire the club to trophies. Unfortunately, Ronaldo could not manage to influence the club to trophies. Al Ittihad knocked them out of the Saudi Super Cup semifinal in January this year.
