Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo declared that his rivalry with Lionel Messi was over. The two superstars no longer compete in Europe and are walking toward retirement. Nevertheless, to the joy of soccer fans, the heirs of Ronaldo and Messi are living up to their legacy and brewing a whole new rivalry. CR7’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., joined Al Nassr last year and won this season’s U-13 Saudi Premier League. Can Messi’s son, Thiago, be far behind? Thiago just added an Easter International Cup to his collection. Then, who has a significant trophy cabinet? Let’s find out.

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. vs Thiago Messi: Who Has Won More Trophies

In February 2024, Al Nassr’s U-13 team, led by Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., topped the Saudi Premier League table with no margin for an opponent to win the silverware. Later, upon the season’s conclusion in March, Cristiano Jr. got their hands on his maiden Saudi League trophy. Notably, this is the 13YO’s only trophy in his junior career. He has played for academy teams of powerhouses such as Real Madrid and Juventus. But it took his 2023 move to Al Nassr’s youth project to see him seize silverware.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi’s son Thiago was trophyless when Cristiano Jr lifted his first title. However, the trophy drought was short-lived. Thiago Messi’s decisive goal in the Weston Cup final in February was instrumental in propelling Inter Miami to win the tournament. With the Weston Cup win, Thiago has matched up with Cristiano Jr. And now, the 12-year-old has surpassed Ronaldo’s son! Thiago’s recent Easter International Cup win saw him add a second silverware to his cabinet.

As of now, Thiago Messi has won two titles to Cristiano Jr’s one Saudi Premier League title. Interestingly, Thiago Messi has mirrored his father, who has a better trophy cabinet than Cristiano Jr.’s father.

Lionel Messi has won a staggering 43 titles for both club and country. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo trails the Inter Miami star with 33 titles to his credit. Regarding the UEFA Champions League, Ronaldo is better off than Messi. He has won five titles to the latter’s four. However, Messi’s international career overshadows that of Ronaldo after he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup. CR7 and the Portugal NT are yet to eclipse that feat, although they won the Euros 2016. Well, it is also quite dubious if the 5x-Ballon d’Or winner would stay long enough to play the next World Cup.

Notably, La Pulga and CR7 have won a trophy each with Inter Miami and Al Nassr, respectively. Weeks into his Miami stint, Messi assisted the club to earn their first silverware by winning the Leagues Cup in 2023.
