Today morning wasn’t a good one for soccer fans. Everyone was greeted by an unwelcoming report of Cristiano Ronaldo getting sidelined because of an injury. What makes this headline more heartbreaking is that he is reportedly set to miss the impending 3 games, including the much-anticipated clash against Inter Miami, his ‘last dance’ with his long-term rival Lionel Messi.
It all started when Cristiano Ronaldo had mild muscle discomfort while training with his teammates. Even though he continued to practice for a longer time, discomfort forced him to end the session early and CR7 visited the club’s clinic for treatment. Unfortunately, this setback will reportedly keep him out for 2 weeks, forcing him to miss the upcoming contests. Fixture-wise how does that look?

Considering the two-week absence of the 5x Ballon d’Or winner, he will surely make a return against his Saudi rival, Al Hilal on February 8, which would mark the end of the Riyadh Season Cup for Luis Castro’s side. But that’s the worst-case scenario. That means he will miss the chance to evoke nostalgia among fans worldwide, as he could witness the game from the sidelines, just like every fan.
What are the Al Nassr fixtures Cristiano Ronaldo could sit out for?
The obvious ones are the two clashes part of Al Nassr’s China tour, where Luis Castro’s side will face Shanghai Shenhua on January 24 and Zhejiang on January 28. The duration of his absence also makes it dicey for the 38-year-old to participate in the highly anticipated clash against Inter Miami on February 1. However, if all the prayers for a successful ‘last dance’ do come true, CR7 might play for just a few minutes against Lionel Messi and Co.

Yet, it’s unlikely that Luis Castro will risk him for a non-league game. His presence is more crucial in their remaining domestic campaign while they also look to thrive in the AFC Champions League. Either way, for now, one can only hope for a miracle to see Cristiano Ronaldo return in time.
The last time both Messi and Ronaldo met was at this same juncture in 2022. Back then, Lionel Messi was playing for Paris Saint-Germain, and the Parisian side had agreed to participate in the Riyadh Season Cup. PSG faced both Al Nassr and Al Hilal, ultimately securing a 5-4 victory against Cristiano Ronaldo’s new domestic side. However, just when another opportunity arose to witness both undisputed GOATs sharing the same turf, fate threw a curveball.
