Louis Van Gaal ignites GOAT debate

After an unfortunate loss in the FIFA World Cup, Louis Van Gaal left the Netherlands national team. Currently, he is an ambassador for the Fintonic application and while chatting with the company’s CEO, he gave his verdict on the debate.

“The best players of this period are Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Choosing between them is difficult. Ronaldo has more results than Messi in titles. Messi has more individual awards, but Ronaldo is more of a player of team.”

“So you have to choose, I’m more of a team coach than an individual player. Messi may be the best football player, but you have to play as a team.” It seems Van Gaal subtly gave his answer, suggesting Ronaldo has more results and is more of a team player.

The former Manchester United seems quite skeptical about Messi after his recent altercation with the PSG star. Both shared a war of words while contesting for the FIFA World Cup.

Why did Lionel Messi get angry with Louis Van Gaal?

Argentina faced the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Hence, before the match at the press conference, Van Gaal divulged on the 35-year-old, saying that he knew a way to stop Messi and Argentina from winning.

However, those words couldn’t stand like the Netherlands, as they lost the game on penalties. But something happened during the game, as Messi did a controversial celebration in front of the Dutch coach.

In fact, after winning the penalty shootout, the player also went to Van Gaal and said, “You talk too much.” The reason is that the player didn’t like his earlier comments made by Van Gaal in the press conference.

This rage didn’t stop there, as after giving the post-match interview, Messi lashed out at Netherlands’ striker Wout Weghorst, saying, “What are you looking at, stupid.” For that, the Argentine later admitted his regret.
