Brazil’s women’s team has crippled Argentina in a South American ‘Clasico’ in the CONCACAF W Gold Cup QF. They netted five goals while Argentina painstakingly fired a goal back to avoid humiliation. Two of Brazil’s goals came from Beatriz Zaneratto. Among them, her 54th-minute strike will be the most talked-about moment for quite some time. Not just because she mercilessly sent back a rebound, but because of what happened after the stunning strike.
Beatriz Zaneratto received the ball inside the box- at a sweet spot. However, her first strike was easily blocked by an Argentine defender. The defender was blindsided after the block, allowing Zaneratto to easily send the ball in. After scoring her team’s 3rd goal, Zaneratto charged towards the stands and performed Cristiano Ronaldo‘s iconic ‘Siuu‘ celebration in a nod to the Portuguese skipper.

Following Beatriz Zaneratto’s goal, Gabi Nunes scored Brazil’s fourth in less than eight minutes. Argentina avoided humiliation with Celeste Dos Santos’ 81st-minute strike. But did that stop Brazil? The Canarinha’s Ronaldo fan, Zaneratto, rose up once again, slashing Argentina clean with a 95th-minute blow. While Zaneratto’s Siuu celebration is the first of the W Gold Cup, this is not the first time women soccer stars have emulated the Portuguese star. From Al Nassr’s superstars to USWNT icons, quite a few women stars have emulated Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration.

Last year, the USWNT posted snippets of their training sessions on X. During one such outing, US veteran Megan Rapinoe scored a stunning header, rushed to the side, and celebrated the goal with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic celebration. Besides, a month after CR7 arrived at Al Nassr, its women’s team paid him homage by pulling off his other famous celebration– the prayer celebration. Similar to the Portuguese, the Al Nassr Women’s team players clasped their hands and closed their eyes with their heads held high.
Al Nassr Women’s stars were also spotted performing the ‘Siuu‘ last year. Furthermore, Croatia’s star attacker Ana Maria Markovic also celebrated one of her goals in the same way. She is known to be a big fan of the Al Nassr skipper. She has famously said that she admires the 5x-Ballon d’Or winner’s discipline.
