Al Nassr has received a golden chance to secure silverware for the season. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to help beat Al Khaleej 4-1 to secure a place in the King Cup final. Also, the victory seems to have given a new lease of life to coach Luis Castro. Previously, the story was that the Knights of Najd were looking at a future away from the Portuguese tactician. However, the latest reports suggest that Castro will indeed be on the hot seat for next season after all.

As per reports on X, a source near the club has shared an update on Castro’s future. “We have no intention of dispensing with the Portuguese Castro next season, he will continue with the team and we have not talked with any coach at all“, quoted the source. Previously, there were reports that Al Nassr was keen to bring Cristiano Ronaldo’s former manager Massimiliano Allegri. The two had a successful time at Juventus and it looked like a good move on paper.

Furthermore, Castro himself seemed to have been under a lot of pressure recently. In fact, following Al Nassr’s Champions League, the coach made a statement that left everyone puzzled. He said, “I am here at Al Nassr to work hard. Don’t just expect results from me.” Soon after, Al Nassr had another opportunity to win silverware, but they fell short. In the Saudi Super Cup, they were eliminated in the semis. Then, the writing seemed to be on the wall for the manager. However, the King Cup victory might have changed the upper management’s view of Castro. Speaking of the King Cup, Al Nassr is set to take on Al Hilal in the final. However, it’s not going to be easy.

Can Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr finally get the better of Al Hilal?

This season, Al Hilal has been the kryptonite for Cristiano Ronaldo’s side. In the 3 meetings so far, Jorge Jesus’ side has emerged victorious in all. Moreover, they are also the leaders in the league. Worst of all, Al Hilal has also had a plan to negate the threat of CR7. The Portuguese superstar has yet to score against the league leaders this season. Hence, Castro might have to switch up his usual tactics.
