In a recent interview with EL Pais, Shakira called the legal proceedings against her ‘unfair and surreal’. The singer queried her prosecution: “Honestly, your honor, I don’t know of anyone who is in criminal proceedings for having a boyfriend. That’s why I feel like it’s so unfair and surreal.“

The Columbian claimed that she did not want to come to Spain in the first place, as she believed it was an enormous sacrifice for her music career.
