Juventus is the third biggest club in the country and is unable to go past the round of 16 for three consecutive Champions League seasons. It seems like the club’s golden days are behind them as they won nine successive Serie A titles between 2012 and 2020. The shocking decision came after authorities decided to investigate the club for an ongoing conspiracy.

Juventus’ investigation by the public prosecutor’s office

Sources reported this decision of the board is linked to the ongoing investigation by authorities. The reports suspect that the club falsified its accounts, leading to market manipulation. In October the club denied all the allegations stating, “Juventus remains convinced… to have acted in compliance with the laws and regulations governing the preparation of financial reports, in accordance with accounting principles and in line with the international practice in the football industry.”

A total of 15 people from Juventus are under investigation for fraud and market manipulation.

Allegations are that the club misrepresented its financial loss during 2018-20. The club reported a record-breaking loss for 2021-22, 262 million USD to be exact. It is a brutal blow to the already low Juventus where performance on the ground isn’t any better.

Top bosses resign

President Andrea Agnelli, vice-president Pavel Nedved, and managing director Maurizio Arrivabene have resigned due to the ongoing investigation. Agnelli was in the position of Juventus president for 12 years and was a major voice in European soccer. Nedved is a Juventus veteran who played 327 games for the club and later joined the board.
