“Congratulations” – Months After Snubbing Pep Guardiola for Manchester United, ‘Soccer Mom’ Julia Roberts Finally Acknowledges Manchester City’s Treble Winning Performance

After several years of failures, Manchester City finally lifted the one trophy that eluded them; the UEFA Champions League. It became a monumental moment for the club that won five Premier League titles in the last six years. Therefore, the club has gotten the monkey off its back and looks to win more. Manager Pep Guardiola won his second treble after his success with Barcelona and loves the soccer club’s progress. In fact, celebrities and sports stars applauded him for the effort, including Hollywood’s own Julia Roberts. It came after the slight jab Pep had with her back in March. 

During City’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig, the team scored seven goals, while Haaland scored five. Yet, Roberts switched her attention to Old Trafford instead of the Etihad. It irked Pep. But, as graceful as she could be, Julia wished him well.

The legendary actress wished Pep in her latest Instagram post. She captioned, “Congratulations @pepteam ⚽️🏆 for leading your team to be UCL champions. #pep #soccermom.” It became a hallmark moment for the manager, who looked delighted after his victory. The only goal in the game was scored by Rodri, who led them to their first UCL title in the club’s history. For Guardiola, though, it became a moment of redemption when fans questioned his ability to lead the team to win the prestigious competition. 

Likewise, Pep jokingly explained how he felt disappointed with Roberts attending the United game when his team was comfortably better in every department. According to the Evening Standard, he explained, “Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles. She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?”

Pep continued, “And she went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us. That’s why even if I win the Champions League it will not compare for the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us.” But everyone knows the bigger club in Manchester now!

Manchester City is slowly and steadily rising to the top!

Often dubbed the noisy neighbors, City is the best in the world. They have a collection of players who want to win and cannot crumble under pressure. Their mental fortitude is a sight to behold, and Pep tailored the squad to perfection. Players like Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Ruben Dias are leaders of the team who are reliable at every moment. 

We expect the usual proceedings to continue next season. While Manchester United has improved drastically, they cannot be expected to reach the levels of Pep Guardiola’s side for some time now.
