USWNT legend Alex Morgan is having the time of her life recently. The San Diego Wave won two games on the trot and rose to third in the NWSL standings with 15 points. They’re currently only one point shy of the top-placed Gotham FC. Nevertheless, there’s also news of a new MLS expansion team that came to light.

San Diego will receive another team as it became the 30th team in the MLS. In addition, the San Diego State Aztecs softball team advanced to their first NCAA Super Regionals in program history. Hearing the exciting news, the soccer player took to Twitter to give her acknowledgments. 

The team played against Liberty Lady Flames softball and claimed the NCAA Los Angeles Regional at Easton Stadium. All around, both news is exciting for the San Diego community.

Alex Morgan wishes San Diego’s softball team for making a historic achievement

Morgan tweeted, “Absolute MAYhem! Congratulations @AztecSoftball.We can see the players celebrating an impressive achievement as players jumped for joy. After their victory, the Aztecs are 38-15 and will now play the No 15th overall seed, Utah. Thus, Morgan wished the team luck for the upcoming fixtures. Despite initially trailing the team by 2-0, the team scored the next six runs. Cali Decker, AJ Murphy, and Jeweliana Perez. 

The team impressed their record to 6-0 in the postseason and improved their performances throughout the season. San Diego is lucky to have top sports teams, including the NWSL San Diego Wave, aiming for their first championship win. Morgan would be the key player in the team’s performance. However, news about the MLS expansion team has excited the soccer fans in San Diego.

The San Diego State will receive an MLS team to boost the area’s sporting interest.

MLS expands the league with a new team in San Diego

According to NBC Sports, the Southern California soccer club intends to make an impact and received a $500 million donation from the ownership group for team development. Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Mansour and the Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Nation will be the club’s new owners. The club will debut in 2025 and play its home games on the campus of San Diego State’s 35,000-seater stadium.

They will share the stadium with NWSL and Morgan’s San Diego Wave team. Therefore, things look interesting for San Diego altogether. Hopefully, they can make a difference and become a soccer powerhouse in the USA.
