Al Hilal have been thriving this season despite the absence of their marquee player, Neymar. However, it is Aleksandar Mitrovic who is not letting the club feel the absence of the former Barcelona star. Mitrovic’s project at Al Hilal has been nothing short of staggering, with 25 goals already. Even though he is flying below the radar of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he isn’t too far from them this season. In fact, as he takes on Inter Miami in the Riyadh Season Cup tomorrow, one opposition player is already aware of the threat he poses, calling him a ‘world-class striker.’
After signing the Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr, misfortune lurked around the corner for the Riyadh-based club. But a strong set of signings from Jorge Jesus is showing immaculate results for the Saudi monsters.

After a successful stint at Fulham in England, Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic’s Saudi project has given him visibility and a better opportunity. Moreover, the player’s heroics have made Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender careful about the striker’s ability. Callender recently said, “I know Mitrovic well, and he is a world-class striker.”

The 29-year-old took Fulham to the Premier League twice from the EFL Championship in 2020 and 2022. With 111 goals in 206 appearances, Aleksandar Mitrovic won two Golden Boots awards in the Championship. However, the 6-foot-2-inch giant expressed extreme delight at Al Hilal and even went on to call it similar to Real Madrid in Asia.
The club, thanks to his performance along with new signings like Malcom and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, has been undefeated in the season’s main competitions. Mitrovic is the only player close to Ronaldo as one of the top scorers in the Saudi League with 17 goals. The player will have the backing of the crowd when he competes with Lionel Messi on the pitch in the opener of the Riyadh Season Cup.

Mitrovic is ready for the Lionel Messi challenge
Lionel Messi will have an equally tough task against Al Hilal as against Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr. With Aleksandar Mitrovic as a major threat in Al Hilal’s attack, Callender is braced for the onslaught that’s coming his way. The goalkeeper also said, as per a Saudi World Football article, “I watch him to find out his strengths and weaknesses. He comes from a big league.”

However, the team in blue will not underestimate David Beckham’s club. Even though Inter Miami does have players in their latter stages of careers, the experience they carry could prove vital. Even more crucially, they still have the little Argentine magician in Messi who led them to their maiden trophy last year and can weave his magic anytime.
