There are a few stories in soccer that come out years later and still stun fans. French legend Jimmy Briand recently revealed one such story. It is related to his legendary picture with Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo from 2002.
The incident occurred when the Al-Nassr striker was 16 years old. He had exchanged jerseys with the French legend and clicked the picture. That picture still holds a high place in the hearts of fans and now they got to know the story behind that picture.

In the Jmoins1 program on Canal +, Jimmy Briand revealed the whole story. He said, “We played against each other with Cristiano during the European U17 championship (in 2002 editor’s note). On the last action of the match, we had beaten them 2-0, recalls the former Lyonnais. Ronaldo was young, already very good, and very personal but very emotional. He was a little pissed that we were beating them and at the end of the match he put a dustpan in me.”

Briand continued saying, “He had taken a red card, had therefore returned to the locker room, except that we were in the same hotel as the Portuguese. In the evening, I hear a knock on my door and it’s Ronaldo who comes to apologize and ask me for my shirt. Then there was this photo that circulated a lot on social networks.”

9 years after that matchup, they faced up again in the UCL round of 16 matchups that Ronaldo would win. Jimmy Briand has played over 400 matches in Ligue 1 and Bundesliga. He has also scored 131 goals. Briand retired from soccer last year. Meanwhile, Ronaldo is in Saudi Arabia winning matches for his club single handily.
