Wrexham AFC, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds, took on Southend United at Racecourse Stadium on Saturday. It was an all-important fixture in the context of the Vanarama National League title race. A win meant Wrexham goes seven points clear of their nearest title rival. However, there were questions raised over whether the game will go ahead or not. 

The pitch was full of snow amid heavy snowfall. But the stadium staff worked hard to clear the pitch in time for the game to go ahead where Wrexham beat United by 1-0 to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Meanwhile, the club’s manager and CEO helping the workers to clear the snow from the pitch caught the eye of fans and co-owner Reynolds who applauded the duo for their efforts.

Ryan Reynolds praises coach and CEO

The Deadpool star shared a picture of the coach Phil Parkinson and CEO Fleur Robinson shoveling the ice from the pitch. He appreciated their efforts to help the stadium workers to start the game on time. He captioned the pic on social media by praising everyone in their efforts to clear the pitch.

Reynolds wrote, “Today’s Wrexham AFC match is happening come hell or high water. That’s our manager: Phil Parkinson, our CEO: Fleur Robinson and my personal hero: Shaun Harvey, shoveling snow to clear the pitch in time. I love this town with all my heart.”

Wrexham and Notts County both got the wins on Saturday, meaning the third-oldest club in the world is still four points ahead of their rivals. With nine games to go, Wrexham has consolidated its position at the top of the table.
