Lionel Messi is best known for his exceptional ability on the soccer pitch. But his name holds such weight that his influence extends far beyond the beautiful game. The Argentinian superstar seems to be embracing his role as a global icon, as he recently launched a new philanthropic initiative. In fact, joining the ranks of supporters is none other than Coldplay’s renowned musician, Chris Martin, who has pledged his alliance for La Pulga’s ‘amazing‘ initiative with a special message for the Inter Miami star.
Messi recently partnered with the Join The Planet program, which is a sustainability drive program. While the 36YO is campaigning in full swing, Chris Martin also expressed his backing for the environmental project. In a TikTok video shared by Canal 5 Noticias, the renowned singer said, “Hello, Leo, my brother. Excuse me for my Spanish, but I am so happy and proud to meet you. I think your Join The Planet organization is amazing. What you’re doing is amazing and I’m on your team, always.” Notably, Join The Planet’s mission is to restore the planet by recycling discarded materials to craft premium goods.

Messi joined the program back in January and has been campaigning via Instagram. Recently, he participated in a Twitch stream where a blue-themed soccer boot made entirely from waste, featuring his signature, was unveiled. Join the Planet will begin their journey by cleaning and recycling the shores of Río Paraná, the second largest river in South America. Nevertheless, coming back, these heartfelt words from Martin are sure to bring contentment to Messi, knowing they come from the co-founder of his favorite band.

In May 2023, Lionel Messi flew back to Barcelona to attend Coldplay’s concert at the Montjuic Stadium along with Cesc Fabregas and their respective WAGs. Despite his attempt to maintain a low profile, he quickly drew the attention of Barca fans present at the event, who fervently chanted his name upon spotting him seated in the lower stands. Remarkably, Messi’s decision to attend the concert meant missing the annual UNFP award ceremony in Paris, where outstanding players in Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and the D1 Arkema are honored. Despite being among the four PSG stars named in Ligue 1’s Team of the Year alongside Kylian Mbappe, Achraf Hakimi, and Nuno Mendes, Messi opted to savor the concert experience instead.
