Megan Rapinoe had an emotional game last night as she stepped on the field representing the national team for the last time. Rapinoe had a decent outing for her side as Team USA bagged the win in the player’s retirement fixture. The OL forward was in tears following the game as she addressed the fans. While it was a great night for Rapinoe, it seems like not everyone was impressed by the player’s actions.

Rapinoe had a great night at the Soldier Field Stadium as fans stood and applauded the superstar. However, the recent criticism might leave a sour taste in the player’s mouth despite a great showing.

Jason Whitlock slams Megan Rapinoe

American columnist and podcaster Jason Whitlock was not pleased with Megan Rapinoe’s actions before the game. The OL Reign star was seen entering the Soldier Field Stadium, playing her own music on a speaker while walking towards the dressing room. Whitlock slammed the USWNT star, claiming her actions were clownish.

“We’ve normalized self-idolatry. This is swag! She’s carrying her own entrance music. It’s clownish behavior,” said the columnist.

Despite the criticism of her actions before the game, Rapinoe had a great time at the Soldier Field Stadium. The USWNT icon, following the game, addressed the fans talking about her plans after her retirement.

The USWNT was up against South Africa last night to give a farewell to national icon Megan Rapinoe. The two-time World Cup winner has had a memorable time with the national team making over 200 appearances. A part of Team USA’s golden generation, Megan Rapinoe will go down in history as one of the best players to ever play for the USWNT.

Following her last game against South Africa, the Ballon d’Or Feminin winner touched down on her retirement while addressing the fans. “I just want to say thank you. I feel like I’ve been able to grow up in front of all of you. When I think about what it means to me to represent not only this team but our country. It’s just that we’re just a little snapshot of all of you.”

Rapinoe then went on to add, “We fought so hard off the field to continue to create more space for ourselves to be who we are, but hopefully, I’m turning it into more space for you guys to be who you are. It has been such an honor to be able to wear this shirt and to play with all these amazing players.”
