The debate ‘Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi‘ is going on for over 15+ years at this point. Every soccer fan has to had to participate in this debate multiple times. Even if you are the FIFA president, you can’t stop yourself from giving your opinion on this heated debate.

Both Ronaldo and Messi have achieved incredible heights in their career. Rated among the greatest players ever to touch the sport, these two are still ruling the game despite being over 35 at this point. Doesn’t matter where they go, the debate is always raging. Fans are still debating heavily despite them playing on different continents.

Their rivalry gave El Clasico a different fire. It eternalized the term, as it featured two of the most dominant teams and two greatest players of this generation battling out with each other. Back in 2013 then FIFA’s president Sepp Blatter give his views on the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo got mocked

In 2013 the Guardian reported that Blatter talked about arguably the biggest rivalry soccer has ever seen. Everyone expected him to have compliments for both stars, as he was the FIFA president at that time. However, Blatter has something else in mind. He took digs aimed at Cristiano Ronaldo.

Talking about Ronaldo, he said, “Lionel Messi is a good boy who every mother and father would like to have at home. He’s a good man, he’s very fast, he’s not exuberant, he’s playing well, he’s dancing, he’s a kind man, he’s a good boy.”

He continued saying, “The other one, this is something else. The other one is like a commander on the field of play.“. Blatter would go on to say that Ronaldo has more expenses for the hairdresser, before saying he prefers the Argentine magician. Nevertheless, things turned ugly between the former Fifa president and Ronaldo who responded in kind.

Ronaldo fired back

Ronaldo didn’t take the comments lightly and fired back with an instant response to the clip. He tweeted, “This video shows the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, my club, and my country. Much is explained now”.

Not only the written response but in the very next match he appeared for Real Madrid, he scored 3 goals in a dominant win.
