The Saudi Pro League attracted some of Europe’s biggest names in what was a whirlwind 2023 summer transfer window. While a host of players followed mercurial Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo‘s $500 million move to Saudi Arabia, some players rejected the move to the Arab League, despite huge contracts on offer.

One such player who rejected a move to the SPL to stay in Serie A is Italian striker Ciro Immobile. Immobile, is worth a reported $30 million and is currently captain of SS Lazio. He has scored 198 goals in 306 games for the Italian outfit. However, as per recent reports, he is rejecting the offer he received from Saudi Arabia to stay in Italy.

According to a recent report, Immobile has spoken out about his regrets over rejecting the offer from the SPL that was on the table for him in the summer. This was perhaps even more magnified because of Lazio’s poor start to the new 2023-24 Serie A season.

As this tweet on X, by the Saudi media suggests, Immobile said, After the start of this season I felt frustrated and told myself I had to accept the Saudi offer.

Lazio endured a turbulent start to their Serie A campaign. It is currently in 13th place in the Serie A table, with 3 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses. However, for Ronaldo, his move to Al Nassr is proving to be an inspirational decision. The Portuguese forward seems to be rolling back the years and getting back to his best after his nightmare second stint at Manchester United.
