The USMNT is off to a great start in the Copa America 2024. Just moments ago, the Stars and Stripes clinched an easy 2-0 victory over its Group C rivals Bolivia in the opening group stage match. While it was a stellar display from Gregg Berhalter’s side, star player Christian Pulisic believes that the team could have found a ‘couple more goals.’
Following the win, the AC Milan star addressed the team’s overall performance. Speaking to Malaysian channel Astro and as per the interview shared by @stadiumastro on X, the 25-year-old said, “We came out flying with a lot of intensity. Obviously, the early goal helped us a lot. All around the predominant performance, I think we could have put it away and had a couple more goals there but definitely a really good start from the guys.”
Impressively, USMNT took 20 shots out of which 8 were on target, compared to Bolivia’s 6 shots, with only 3 on target. They also dominated the play throughout the 90 minutes, enjoying 69% possession compared to the away side’s 31%. Yet, Pulisic was quite critical about his side’s performance. In fact, he had a piece of advice for his teammates that the opening win doesn’t signify anything as the journey is long ahead.

While urging his side to carry forward with the momentum against the next fixture against Panama, he concluded, “We should build some confidence from this [win] and feel good. The game is just gonna get tougher and tougher as the tournament goes on.” It seems the former Chelsea man isn’t interested in getting carried away with the victory.

The AC Milan forward opened the account for his side in just 3 minutes, thanks to an assist from Timothy Weah. Surprisingly, his goal carries great significance as he became the fastest player in USMNT history to score 30 goals, achieving this milestone in just 69 games. Notably, he isn’t alone as the rest of the team also performed admirably.
