The success of Welcome to Wrexham Season One made fans excited by the content produced. Therefore, season two promises to be a blinder following the soccer club’s promotion hunt. Most of it is based on the run-in for getting promotion while they also showcased the stadium revamp plans. While chasing funds from the UK government to expand the Racecourse Ground stadium’s capacity, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had to undergo a rather peculiar etiquette training boot camp!

Meeting ‘His Majesty’ King Charles III proved to be an exciting affair for the Hollywood owners. It’s not normal for someone to meet the King. Nevertheless, they had to endure demanding etiquette training routines in preparation for meeting His Royal Highness.

In the first episode, one can witness Ryan and Rob practicing postures, and sitting techniques, and practicing exchanging pleasantries before meeting the King. Before meeting the King and Queen Camilla, they underwent various etiquette measures. The Royal Family oozes class wherever they attend functions, as Ryan visibly found it strenuous to go through the training. Their etiquette coach, Lisa Gache, helped them to follow the basic mannerisms to portray. 

 

In one scene, Ryan complimented by stating, “That’s a nice chair,” after walking towards it in an upright posture. The etiquette manager quickly replied, “Nice. The control. I feel like the thigh muscles were working?” By sitting on the chair, Ryan looked stressed, and with his posture erect, Ryan jokingly said, “I feel like a serial killer.” Rob even felt the same as he looked at Ryan and mentioned, “Yeah, you look like you’re ready to pounce!” It became a hilarious exchange as the owners and the Royal Family met soon after.

Significantly, the Royals made their way to the Racecourse Ground and met the owners and other club directors. He talked to the players and the staff as Ryan shook hands with His Majesty. Charles even showcased his sense of humor to Rob by stating, “I hear It’s Always Sunny there,” referencing his famous TV show after Rob revealed his hometown. With the funding in place, this meeting had crucial financial implications for getting the capital.

Bringing in the funds to revamp Wrexham AFC’s old stadium!

For Ryan and Rob, it’s been a dream to renovate the 201-year-old stadium. As Wrexham aimed for back-to-back promotions, increasing the stadium’s capacity would help the club gain financial benefits from matchday income. In addition, they can use these funds to develop the stadium and create a sustaining business model.

The meeting of the Royals took at the perfect time for the owners in a bid to speed-track the process. To sum up, the etiquette classes made them up to scratch as Ryan and Rob held on their own!
