USWNT superstar Megan Rapinoe is the one who rose to the limelight from the three siblings. Her twin sister used to play soccer like Megan till her High School days. They played together for a few clubs in their early days. But with injuries creeping in, Rachael lost momentum, and her development was halted.

She didn’t make it to the heights that her sister and OL Reigns forward Megan achieved in her career. Megan Rapinoe is one of the most accomplished athletes in the US. Had her twin sister kept up without injuries, she would also have got the same stardom as she was a better athlete than Megan.

Megan Rapinoe says her sister was better

Megan hailed her twin sister as a better athlete than her. According to their mother, Denise, Rachael was on the path to soccer stardom before Megan. She was taller, stronger, faster, and a better athlete than Megan. Megan Rapinoe also thinks the same. She said“I always remember Rachael being the best athlete that I knew, certainly the best in our household.”

It took Megan a few years to catch up with Rachael when they reached High School. The duo started playing soccer together. They played soccer for elite Elk Grove Pride in Sacramento. Rachael and Megan Rapinoe together made the state and regional Olympic Development Program teams. Numerous Division-I schools recruited the Rapinoe sisters.

However, things didn’t go as planned for Rachael. Her soccer journey ended. On the other hand, Megan achieved stardom and now is the two-time FIFA World Cup champion and an Olympic Gold medalist with USWNT. Rapinoe will be on the USWNT roster for this year’s World Cup and would hope to win the third World Cup in a row after winning the 2015 and 2019 editions.

It was the second time the USWNT superstar missed the international camp this year. Earlier in January, Rapinoe wasn’t on the roster for the friendlies against New Zealand due to an ankle injury. She made it to the squad for the She Believes Cup. The OL Reigns forward again missed the international camp with a calf injury.

With Mallory Swanson injured and missing the World Cup, there’s a chance for the 37-year-old to be an integral part of the team for the World Cup.
