Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are not just co-owners of Wrexham AFC. They are also known for their close friendship. And this year, McElhenney took their friendship to another level by dedicating a park in Wrexham, to his dear friend on his birthday, with the help of another Hollywood A-lister, Chris Pratt.
The tradition of surprising each other on their birthdays started when Reynolds presented McElhenney with a commemorative urinal on his 45th birthday. Ever since then, it has become an annual affair for the Wrexham co-owners to come up with creative and humorous surprises for each other. This year, McElhenney chose to honor Reynolds in a unique way.

Rob McElhenney wishes Ryan Reynolds a Happy Birthday with a twist
October 23rd marked a special occasion Hollywood actor Ryan Reynold celebrated his 47th birthday. As a gift, Rob McElhenney prepared a big surprise for his friend. The joyful occasion was shared with fans when McElhenney posted a humorous video on his Instagram. In the video, he unveiled his surprise for Reynolds, enlisting the support of Chris Pratt.
McElhenney captioned the post “Happy birthday, Ryan Reynolds. This year I had to bring in an actual superhero… Chris Pratt”. The video showcased McElhenney’s meeting with Pratt, during which he discussed his plans to dedicate a park in Wrexham to the Deadpool star. The park, located in the heart of Wrexham City Centre, has been aptly named “The Ryan Rodney Reynolds Memorial Park”.

The video also showcased McElhenney’s wit as he poked fun at Reynolds’ role in the movie Green Lantern. Referencing the green lanterns present in the park, McElhenney’s lightheartedness added an extra layer of humor to the occasion. He flew a blimp with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool character’s unmasked face, which Rob amusingly described as “A hideous but surprisingly inexpensive way for the world to finally see Ryan Reynolds as he’s meant to be seen”.

Not one to be outdone, Reynolds took it up a notch on McElhenney’s 46th birthday. He produced a fully-fledged music video highlighting the difficulty in pronouncing the name of the star from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. With McElhenney striking back now, fans can only await his next birthday to see what creative antics Reynolds will come up with next.
