Ronaldo also insinuated that although he greatly respected him, he was far from the father he wanted. He couldn’t talk to him directly and these were the same issues that plagued the family.

In one of the most tragic stories, Jose Dinis Aveiro died when Ronaldo was kickstarting his soccer career in 2005. Cristiano Ronaldo’s father helped him develop an interest in soccer, but couldn’t watch him become a demigod of the game.

Recently he and his sister talked and revealed the reason behind Dinis Aveiro’s alcoholism. He died because of liver failure due to excessive drinking. Fans had known these details, but now they get a sneak peek into the life of Ronado’s father via his sister.

On 25th April, Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro took to Instagram to show her love and support for her veteran father. She posted photos of her late father from his military days. Mr. Aveiro looks ready to combat in the army uniform.

Applauding her father’s contribution to the freedom of the country Katia Aveiro wrote, “These photos are from a former combatant of the Angolan war… after that me and my sibs and so many others are free. This ex-combatant was my father and there were other people’s parents… the dictatorship did not live, it came shortly after but it remained until my father left, it remained in his revolt, without support from a rogue government, it remained inside our home, in the alcoholism he carried to forget the deaths of friends… from the blood you saw in the cold war.

She would continue praising her father’s effort and stated how proud she feels. This statement brought to light a statement Ronaldo gave back in 2015 about his father’s alcoholism.

During an interview with the Times, Ronaldo made a big revelation about his father and the relationship he shared. He said, “My father was an alcoholic. It wasn’t the father I dreamed of having. I loved him, of course, but I never had a conversation with him as I am now having with you.”
