Soccer has grown at a breakneck pace in the U.S. Young talents from across the country are increasing daily in an attempt to make a name for their beloved country. It is perhaps a dream for many at grassroots levels who dream of bringing the World Cup to the States.

Over the years, many emerging talents have shone in the world of soccer, including the likes of Pulisic, Reyna, and Tyler Adams. In order to give recognition to emerging and budding talents, players are awarded for their major achievements throughout the year.

And yet again, there’s another youngster who has made the whole US proud. Yunus Musah has become a household name in US soccer.

A proud moment for US soccer

Yunus Musah has been voted the 2022 Chipotle U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year. After enduring a decent World Cup, the 20-year-old has won the award by 83.9 percent of votes.

During the FIFA World Cup, Musah registered the most minutes and starts when he was still a teenager. Thus, he enjoyed a stellar performance and helped his side clinch an important win against Iran.

The youngster got to know about the award through a surprise video call from veteran DaMarcus Beasley. “It feels crazy to think out of all people that I was the one chosen to be the Young Male Player of the Year,” Musah said.

“To get this award is really huge. I’ve said it many times – I’ve had the trust from the manager, the team, the U.S. to play so many games at this young age. It shows me that I just have to carry on the way I’m doing, keep being humble and keep working hard to try and be more. As a player, you just want to keep improving.” he added.

The wunderkind started all the games in the World Cup, thus forming a remarkable partnership alongside Adams and McKennie. Furthermore, he also became the first teenager to get a start at the World Cup. He played 345 minutes out of a possible 360 throughout the tournament.

Musah is grateful for the fans’ support

This year, soccer fans also had a chance to vote for the U.S. Soccer Player and Young Player of the Year Awards. Moreover, the votes of the audience had a weight age at 15%.

And the Valencia midfielder was very grateful for the support he received from the fans. “To the fans from when they started the ‘Can’t spell Musah without USA thing’, through qualifiers and the World Cup, I feel like the fans have been behind me for so long – since before I even did anything in football,” said Musah.

“As we went on playing games and they enjoyed the way I was playing and everything – I’d just like to say thank you for their unbelievable support and their trust since day one. The fans of the USMNT are great, and I love them.” he added.

The talented midfielder will be looking to complete a successful campaign with Spanish side Valencia. Los Che is sitting at 12th and will welcome their neighbor at the table, Almeria.
