After weeks of inactivity, Inter Miami finally returned to action. David Beckham‘s soccer franchise filled the DRV PNK stadium for a friendly tie against New York FC. While a great match was expected from Lionel Messi and Co., it unfortunately ended in a tragic loss. In fact, in an unexpected turn of events, instead of causing rage, the loss has ignited laughter among the Herons fanbase.

Additionally, prior to the match, the club organized a Noche d’Or ceremony as they paid tribute to Messi’s recent eighth Ballon d’Or win as he showcased his record prestigious award to everybody.

The first half ended with the away side taking an early lead. As the second half began, NYCFC doubled their lead. Notably, after a lot of changes, in the 81st minute, Robbie Robinson finally broke the deadlock for the Herons. Despite rallying for a comeback, neither Messi nor his teammates could clinch an equalizer, resulting in the match ending 2-1.

Interestingly, instead of being angry, the final scoreline has garnered a side-splitting response from the fans. This fan insists Miami can’t even win a friendly.

Indeed, the result is quite shocking, as despite having Messi at their disposal, the Herons couldn’t clinch a victory. Certainly, Tata Martino and his side must reflect on the loss. It is also ironic to see that just minutes ago, Messi was talking about glory during the speech he gave at the Noche d’Or ceremony.

Before the poor loss against NYCFC, Messi showcased his eighth Ballon d’Or in front of thousands present at the DRV PNK Stadium. After that, the player took the mic in his hands to extend his heartfelt thanks to all the Miami fans for their presence at the ceremony. “I’ve been here for a short period but it feels like a long time. I have no doubts that next year it’s going to be even better,” he said.

La Pulga then displayed his optimism for the new campaign and insisted the club would rally to win awards. He then urged fans to back the team with overwhelming support. “We are going to keep enjoying, keep winning titles and I hope you can support us like you have,” he added. It seems both Messi and Miami have a lot in store for their ardent fans.
