In just over a month since his arrival, Lionel Messi has just lifted his first-ever trophy with Inter Miami. Interestingly, even Cristiano Ronaldo won his first trophy with Al Nassr, a few days ago. Undoubtedly, the ‘GOAT’ debate among both fanbases has started again. While the Argentine soccer legend lifted the Leagues Cup moments ago, its comparison with Ronaldo’s ‘friendly’ trophy seemed slightly strange.
About a week ago, the Portuguese soccer legend lifted the ‘Arab Club Champions Cup’. While the players and fans were ecstatic and celebrating with the trophy, the Minister of Sports unexpectedly called that competition a ‘friendly’ tournament’.

The fanbase is still stunned by the level of impact Messi has already had on Beckham‘s soccer club. The club is now on a winning streak and the Argentine World Cup winner has scored in every game since his debut. Expectedly, similar debates that have been going on for decades have begun again.
While both soccer legends are currently playing soccer outside of Europe, here are some of the fan reactions to the ‘GOAT’ discussion.

A fan makes an interesting comparison, the Argentine soccer legend won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ by winning a cup with the MLS’ worst side this season. On the other hand, this fan claims that Al Nassr could have possibly done it without Ronaldo.
The Big Difference.
Without MESSi, Inter Miami doesn't take the cup.
Without Ronaldo, Al-Nassar could still take the cup.Messi won the Best Player of the Tournament.

With the two soccer legends aging rapidly, times does matter!

It is true that the World Cup winner has managed to raise the performances of everyone in the Inter Miami squad. Another compelling viewpoint for sure.
Ronaldo joined one of the best teams in Saudi Arabia, while Messi joined the worst team in the MLS. Please don’t compare these two trophies. https://t.co/ojdirSsMWz

A huge chunk of the comments sections was filled with general passionate soccer fans too. A fan was thoroughly grateful to witness both soccer legend’s careers. Another fan appreciated how they’ve managed to continue building their fan following for themselves even after playing the sport outside of Europe.
Y'all can sit and argue all day but reality is there won't be anything close to these two for many decades or if ever.
Glad to have witnessed their entire careers 🐐🐐 https://t.co/pcsXR2GXDV

A little over a week ago, Ronaldo lifted his first trophy with Al Nassr. After the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup, the Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia had a few words to say. Firstly, he thanked Allah for the successful tournament. However, his next few words raised a few eyebrows. He quoted, “Despite it being considered a friendly tournament, there was serious competition in this championship”.
On the contrary, the Portuguese soccer legend had called it an ‘important’ trophy. On social media, he wrote, “Extremely proud to helped the team winning this important trophy for the 1st time!”. Do these comments dampen the achievement of him winning a trophy? Maybe, maybe not. However, the efforts that Ronaldo and Messi have taken to grow soccer in Saudi Arabia and America respectively will never go unnoticed.
