A phone call from Rob McElhenney convinced Paul Mullin to Wrexham

According to the Leader, Mullin said“At that point, I wasn’t thinking I was going to sign for Wrexham and when I got off the phone with him, after speaking to him, I could feel his passion and what they wanted to do with the club.”

He continued, “I was skeptical at first, but after I got off the phone with Rob and he described his plans for the club and how they want to make the club so successful.” After discussing with the owners, he finally came up with the decision to sign for the club. That proved to be a masterstroke.

Although he missed the Golden Boot, Mullin scored 38 crucial goals to help Wrexham get promoted. Therefore, the club received a sensational player in their ranks. Similarly, when the club lost their injured player, Ben Foster arrived to provide adequate cover.

When the club was on the lookout for a goalkeeper, Ryan Reynolds made a phone call that proved to be the difference. He saw that the phone was from ‘Beverly Hills USA,’ and shouted in glee. Foster came to the Racecourse Ground and quickly made a name for himself. His vital penalty save against Notts County proved to be the difference, as Wrexham claimed all three points in a sensational 3-2 victory.
