This definitely came as a surprise and they took over full control of the club in February 2022. Since then, both actors have gone to see most of the matches of their team to show support and cheer for their players. However, it seems that their first game was not received well by the fans.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s reactions to abuse from fans
Humphrey Ker, who is a comedian and writer, revealed that the two actors were enjoying the abuse that they were getting from the fans. Kerr said that he- “had to explain that no matter how successful the team is, someone will come up to them and call them a c**”. Ker then went on to add: “The first game they attended at Maidenhead they received abuse, and I think they actually enjoyed it.”
It is not clear why Reynolds and McElhenney would enjoy being called offensive names. But it is possible that they see it as a sign of the passion of the fans. It is certainly unusual for owners of a football club to enjoy being abused by fans. But it seems that Reynolds and McElhenney are just happy to be involved with the club.
Either way, it is clear that they are not put off by the abuse and are still fully committed to the club.

The short answer is that they believe in the team’s potential and want to help it reach its full potential. As the third oldest soccer club in the world, Wrexham AFC has a rich history. But recent years have been tough for the club, and it has struggled to stay competitive. Hopefully, their involvement will help to improve the fortunes of the team.
