After winning the National League trophy and automatic promotion, Wrexham AFC owners appear to be on a new mission. While the team celebrates the season in Las Vegas, Rob McElhenney is doing his best to finesse the Welsh soccer legend to come back. Although Gareth Bale has since rejected the possibility of playing with Wrexham, we all know how persuasive he can be, as demonstrated in Welcome to Wrexham.

It all started with a sort of online banter. Rob McElhenney led to a brand new rumor about Bale playing for Wrexham. In a recent talk during a sports award show, Bale has cleared that he was bantering with the Wrexham owner.

McElhenney, on the other hand, has taken this as a challenge. He has previously been able to persuade big names like Paul Mullin and Phil Parkinson to be a part of the Red Dragons. The creator of ‘Its always sunny in Philadelphia’ is now trying to butter up the Real Madrid legend.

McElhenney finessing Bale for Wrexham

The conversation went from Twitter to fans and pundits before the Welsh soccer legend finished it. Rob McElhenney seems to be keeping his game phase on as he chooses to chase down the former Real Madrid Forward.

Talking on Aarti and Sriram show, McElhenney said, “Gareth, okay listen, it’s just me and you talking for a second. I know that Southern California is beautiful and I know, I’m from Philadelphia and I’ve lived here for many, many years… but you’re a young man and you have the rest of your life to live wherever you want!

Continuing on his quest, McElhenney added, “If you could just come back for one last year of glory, one last year. I believe your nation, the nation of Wales… do the right thing. Call me.” It appears the owners are ready to go to great lengths to pursue Gareth Bale.

Gareth Bale meanwhile, has already responded to the rumors. He said, “I was more looking for a free round of golf off Rob! I’m sure we’ll have a chat and a joke, but I’m quite happy where I am. [I’m] spending a lot of time with my kids and my wife, time that I’ve lost so much of over the years being committed to football.
