In contrast to the previous summer transfer window, the Saudis have maintained a relatively low profile in terms of major signings during the January transfer window. Despite having notable players like Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, and Casemiro on their wish list, these potential moves have yet to materialize. Among them is Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who reportedly declined an offer from Al Hilal that would have been irresistible to many.

With Neymar sidelined for the season due to a knee injury, the Riyadh-based side has been proactively scouting additional talent. Indeed, they successfully contracted Brazilian left-back Renan Lodi for $25 million. However, the Manchester United skipper is staying put.

Recent reports suggest that Bruno Fernandes was presented with an ‘astronomical offer’ to join Al-Hilal in January. Despite this enticing offering, the 29-year-old declined to uphold his commitment to Manchester United on the grounds of pending endeavors still awaiting him within Europe alongside his fellow team members from the Red Devils.

As per these reports, the precise monetary value behind this attractive offer remains undisclosed. However, it is highlighted that many would perceive such figures as overwhelming and undeniably alluring. Despite the initial denial, this situation involving Al Hilal’s pursuit of Bruno Fernandes is far from concluded.

Reports suggest that the Saudi side intends to persist in their efforts during the forthcoming summer transfer season. The decision continues to rest solely on Bruno Fernandes’ shoulders; establishing whether he would entertain an opportunity for relocation to unite with former Sporting CP manager Jorge Jesus within new professional realms provided by Al Hilal.

However, it is unlikely he will leave or that his club will let him. With 71 goals and 60 assists, Fernandes has become a key figure for the Red Devils. With 2 Matt Busby Player of The Year awards, he has been arguably United’s best player since signing for them. He even broke Frank Lampard’s record of ‘most goals scored in a single season in all competitions by a Premier League midfielder’, when he scored 28 times in the 2020/21 season. Such is the impact he has had with the Red Devils.

Saudi Arabia’s relentless pursuit of top talents has not come without its fair share of setbacks. One recent blow came when Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al Nassr faced a significant rejection.
