Rarely in soccer do you look at the screen and go, ‘It has to be the most bizarre goal of all time.’ Well, the Turkey vs Portugal game had one such goal. Cristiano Ronaldo and his men had a great start to the game as Bernardo Silva provided the team with the lead in the first half of the contest. The team wasn’t done as they continued to pile the pressure on Turkey forcing an error that Samet Akaydin will regret for the rest of his career.

With Joao Cancelo pushing into the attacking third, Akaydin tried to press the defender to force an error. The Turkish center-back was successful as he managed to force the Barcelona man to make an error. However, the team was too lax in the situation as Akaydin passed the ball back to the keeper who was way outside his position. This in return saw the ball roll in the back of the net giving Portugal an outrageous second goal.

While Portugal did their all to celebrate the goal, fans were not happy with how things went down with most missing the chance due to a mistake from the broadcasters. Many were not happy with the error as they bashed ITV for focusing on Cristiano Ronaldo rather than the game.

Viewers not happy as Cristiano Ronaldo overshadows Portugal’s 2nd goal

While the ball rolled into the back of the net, Cristiano Ronaldo was busy fuming with Joao Cancelo for losing the ball. In an attempt to capture the situation between the two players, the cameraman missed the timing to pan toward the nets as the ball rolled into the back of the net. Fans were not happy for missing out on the key moment as many decided to take it out on the broadcaster.

Another fan claimed broadcasters need to stop focusing on players and keep their attention on the game. This has been a growing pain for the fans as broadcasters usually miss crucial moments trying to keep their attention on star players.

Similarly, one claimed the overuse of replays was ruining the experience of the game as the fans were missing out on key moments. The Euros has seen some poor camera handling this summer, with the camera paying more attention to discussion between players rather than the on-field action.

Another fan trolled the cameraman, claiming he was busy brewing himself coffee while the goal was happening. Fans will hope the recent mistake does not get repeated as it takes a lot from the game.

One fan claimed he missed the big moment because the feed cut off because of an unexpected reason. While there is yet to be a comment from ITV, we can expect the broadcasters will have a chat about the incident during their further meetings.
